The San Diego Padres have not had the best start to the 2023 season, as they sat just one game above the .500 mark heading into Thursday’s series finale against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
Things started off on a good note for the Friars, as Twins starter Bailey Ober was greeted by none other than a rejuvenated and reinvigorated Fernando Tatis Jr.
Now almost a month after his return from a PED suspension, the Padres slugger is on a tear.
On Thursday, he greeted Ober and the Twins with a long home run on the first pitch of the game, putting the Padres in front, 1-0.
On Twitter, MLB posted a video of the moment Tatis went yard against Ober.

There’s nothing like a leadoff home run to start your day, especially on the first pitch of the game.
Tatis has been on a tear since returning from his suspension.
The former shortstop is certainly going to deal with more than his fair share of boos as the season unfolds.
But so far, he has been able to silence the critics by hitting some home runs and coming through in key spots.
Opposing fans may not like it, but Tatis is on a redemption tour and is proving that his first few seasons in the big leagues were not simply fluke seasons.
