After Eric Bieniemy left to join the Washington Commanders, the Kansas City Chiefs have been looking to fill their offensive coordinator position.

On Friday, it was announced that they had promoted Matt Nagy to that capacity.

Some fans didn’t exactly seem thrilled with the move.

However, other fans believe head coach Andy Reid will continue to call a good number of the team’s plays, which makes them feel the offensive coordinator position is somewhat insignificant.

This will be Nagy’s second go-around as Kansas City’s offensive coordinator, as he previously held that role during the 2017 season.

Back then, Alex Smith was under center for the team, and he had the season of his lifetime, setting career-highs in passing yards, passing touchdowns and passer rating while being named to the Pro Bowl.

Running back Kareem Hunt, then a rookie, led the NFL in rushing yards, and the Chiefs ranked sixth in points and fifth in total yards.

In 2018, Nagy moved on to become the head coach of the Chicago Bears for four seasons.

In his first season there, they went 12-4 and made the playoffs while ranking ninth in points as quarterback Mitchell Trubisky had his lone Pro Bowl season.

Nagy returned to the Chiefs for the 2022 season as their senior assistant and quarterbacks coach.

They ranked first in points and total yards as QB Patrick Mahomes led them to their second Super Bowl championship in the last four seasons.

One would have to think that as long as there are few changes to their offense, they should be one of the favorites to win the world championship yet again next season.
