Sunday was a bittersweet day for the Boston Red Sox.
They defeated the Detroit Tigers in their series finale, but lost outfielder Adam Duvall after this play:

Duvall had left wrist problems last year, and he unfortunately broke it on Sunday after trying to make that catch.
The Red Sox have already confirmed the fracture.
Duvall had been the Sox’s hottest hitter to open the year.
He had four home runs, 14 RBI, and a 1.544 OPS.
There is still no word on how much time he is slated to miss, but he has a fracture.
He won’t be able to return anytime soon, and that’s bad news for the Red Sox.
Adam Duvall has to be cursed man 😭😭 https://t.co/qtOeqOxCbe

Some people on Twitter resorted to humor as a defense mechanism to hide their disappointment.

Others lamented the injury in a more serious tone.
Adam Duvall leads the majors in fWAR (1.0), OPS (1,544), SLG (1,030), RBI (14) and 2nd in runs (11)
He also is one of the few everyday RHH OFs the Red Sox have that is capable of playing a good CF. This really is a tough blow to the lineup and ideal roster composition https://t.co/ceh1CXhwWF

The Red Sox are having a nightmare with injuries this season, and they haven’t even played 10 games.
The Red Sox:
Don’t have a starting center fielder.
That Adam Duvall broken wrist is gonna keep him out until August at least.
Rob Refsnyder is a bench player. He’s not a starting CF in MLB.
Jarren Duran is a CF but he can’t hit big league pitching. https://t.co/ILV6gqNpP2

They are already down Duvall, Adalberto Mondesi, Trevor Story, Brayan Bello, James Paxton, Joely Rodriguez and other crucial players.
The season is looking like a challenge for them.
It’s still too early to quit, though.
They have excellent players and one of the best managers in the game in Alex Cora.
Still, there are four teams in the AL East division that are just as good as the Red Sox, some of them even better.
Let’s see how the team can bounce back from an injury to one of its hottest players.
There are several sluggers on the roster, and they will all need to step up now.
