Even though he hasn’t been a part of the Seattle Seahawks for a year now, Russell Wilson will forever be tied to the team.
Wilson is the greatest, most accomplished quarterback—and player—in franchise history, but the recent story about him might not be the best look.
According to a report by The Athletic, Wilson actively tried to get GM John Schneider and HC Pete Carroll fired last season, shortly before being traded to the Denver Broncos.
Wilson didn’t waste a second to try and dismiss that narrative, taking it to Twitter to state that Carroll was a father figure to him, and that Schneider was a guy who always believed in him.
I love Pete and he was a father figure to me and John believed in me and drafted me as well. I never wanted them fired. All of us wanted was to win.
l’ll always have respect for them and love for Seattle.

Needless to say, the fans didn’t buy that PR attempt to clear his name amid this scandal.

It’s a business we get it. You said what you said to win. Turns out you got fired instead.

But did you request they be fired?

As time goes in I have a harder and harder time believing the things he says. Russ seems more like a politician than anything else

Still, the fact that the front office decided to part ways with Wilson only proves that there should be some truth to this report.
Also, multiple former teammates and colleagues started taking shots at Wilson as soon as he was shipped away, so he might not be the most popular guy within the organization.
All the reports about Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have tried to make him look bad, so either he was — indeed — orchestrating something, or there has to be something else we don’t know about right now.
Whatever the case, the fans don’t seem to be on Russ’ side on this one, but we might not ever get to know what actually went down in Seattle.
