The New York Jets are coming off an impressive season, which shows this team may finally be ready to turn things around.
As a result of the team’s recent success, all signs point to a blockbuster trade to acquire Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers.
That said, Rodgers, who turns 40 in December, will need all the protection he can get, making the latest update on offensive tackle Mekhi Becton a promising sign for things to come in New York.
According to Dov Kleiman, Becton has dedicated himself to losing weight and getting in the best shape possible for the 2023 NFL season, with the former first-round pick losing 50 pounds.
Awesome: #Jets Mekhi Becton, who weighted 400 pounds a couple of years ago, has transformed his body and slimmed down to about 350 pounds after some hard work. (ESPN)

Here are some reactions to Becton’s drastic body transformation:
Even for a guy that is something like 6’8 – that is an absolutely absurd physique for an OT who’s 350. pic.twitter.com/cjgRKhxrjE

He’s gonna be a top tackle in the league. Weight was the biggest concern with him, and now he looks amazing.

All NFL players can lose that weight easily. They have the best fat burning workout secrets out there. Look at Alan Faneca.

With Rodgers likely being the new starting quarterback for the Jets, the pressure will be on New York to at least get to the playoffs and potentially make a deep run.
That said, Becton knows he’ll be under the microscope as well as many of his teammates on the offensive line and the offensive side of the football.
The Jets haven’t had high expectations for quite some time, and the impending arrival of Rodgers will instantly change that, with a short window to compete for a title in the twilight of the four-time NFL MVPs career.
It’ll be interesting to see if the Jets and their players can deal with the pressure in the biggest market in the country, with players like Becton either taking a leap forward or inch closer to being unemployed after the season.
