Team Venezuela is one of several teams in the World Baseball Classic this spring that is off to a red-hot start.

In fact, Venezuela is undefeated and have a ton of momentum entering their matchup against Team USA on Saturday.

Eduardo Escobar is certainly looking forward to the challenge of facing off against a stacked Team USA roster and is duly impressed by what he has seen out of his team so far.

On Friday, the New York Mets star took a moment to chat with Juan Toribio about Team Venezuela’s run and what he has enjoyed about the World Baseball Classic so far.

Escobar talked about the honor of having the opportunity to play for his home country.

He says it’s important to him because of family’s support and is grateful to have such an opportunity to play in such a legendary event.

Also on Team Venezuela is Detroit Tigers star Miguel Cabrera, who will be retiring at the end of the 2023 season.

Escobar certainly relishes the opportunity to get to know Cabrera and share a clubhouse and dugout with him during this tournament, and didn’t hesitate to say as much about being able to compete with him.

However, at the end of the day, Escobar wants to win this tournament for his country and for Cabrera.

Escobar says that above all else, he enjoys being a part of Team Venezuela and building camaraderie with his teammates.

Venezuela will play against Team USA on Saturday.
