Durant unlikely to leave before market closes

As soon as Kyrie Irving left the Nets, half the league turned to ask what Kevin Durant thought about it and how much he wanted to stay in Brooklyn. And although teams like Boston and Phoenix have already applied as suitors, it does not seem that these last days of the market are going to be the time to take over the forward.

This has been stated by Zach Lowe, a journalist for ESPN, who believes that his departure will take place sooner or later but that it will not happen now. In his words, it would be a huge surprise for both the Nets and the rest of the teams if KD requested the transfer at this moment, because even if it happened it would generate an avalanche in the league that could hardly be digested until generating a transfer in just 48 hours. . Although he considers that since Harden’s departure everything seems destined for the project to break (which could already have happened in the summer), this will have to wait.

For now, Durant has not even spoken publicly regarding the Kyrie case or the future of the Nets, although it is assumed that he at least gave his opinion to the franchise about the offers received by the point guard and helped them opt for the package sent from Dallas. This, much more focused on players with immediate impact than on men with potential or future rounds of the draft, showed the desire of New Yorkers to continue competing this course, a desire that, if we assume that it had a part in the decision-making, we can assume which Kevin shares. But even if he doesn’t, giving him an imminent release doesn’t seem like the most logical option.

In Brooklyn they have a KD tie until 2026, so they are in anything but a hurry to move him even if he expresses his desire for such a thing to happen. Convincing him a second time to stay would be utopian, but finding an offer that satisfies his claims would possibly be a task that would require more time than is left until the end of the transfer period.
