The Los Angeles Dodgers got some bad news today when it was revealed that Gavin Lux, who was in line to claim the starting job at shortstop after Trea Turner’s departure, had torn his ACL and would be out for the entire 2023 season.
Lux was running to third base during yesterday’s spring training game when his knee gave out.
He was subsequently carted off the field.
Dodgers fans are understandably disappointed with the news, as is Lux.
On Twitter, a Dodgers fan commented on the situation, expressing that he feels sorry for Lux and hoping that he recovers well after suffering such a freak injury.
Gotta feel for Gavin Lux man. He waited so long to have the opportunity to be an everyday player for the Dodgers and the one year it comes, he suffers a freak injury. The comeback is always stronger though. 🙏🙏

This year represented the first chance for Lux to claim the starting shortstop job.
While he’ll get another shot in 2024, this still hurts him.
He had been a reserve player for much of his career and finally had the opportunity to claim an everyday role, until the injury occurred.
Everyone around the baseball world, including fans, players, coaches, and media members feel sorry for Lux, and it’s hard not to feel sorry for him after this incident.
We can only hope that he recovers well and is ready for 2024.
The Dodgers do have Chris Taylor, who they could plug in at shortstop.
Miguel Rojas is also an option.
We may see the Dodgers potentially dive back into the trade or free agent markets.
Utilityman Jose Iglesias is unsigned, and former All-Star Paul DeJong could potentially be trade bait if the St. Louis Cardinals decide that they don’t have a fit for him.
