The Denver Nuggets have closed the transfer of Bones Hyland to the Los Angeles Clippers, according to the journalist from ESPN, Adrian Wojnarowski. In exchange, the Colorado franchise receives two second rounds of the draft, corresponding to the years 2024 and 2025.
Denver’s front office’s intention to part with the second-year point guard had leaked in recent weeks. A position that, precisely, the Clippers had set as the main priority before the market closed.
Thus, Hyland will get the change of scenery he wanted, although it is not clear if he will receive a significant increase in minutes in a Clippers that have great depth and whose reins are led by Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Still, the Los Angeles franchise was looking for another playmaker in the game. backcourt and with Hyland they incorporate a young and promising one. This season he is averaging 12.1 points and 3.0 assists in 19.5 minutes per game.
Because he is only in the second year of his rookie contract, Hyland will remain under the control of the Clippers for two seasons beyond this at a very reasonable price: $2.3 million in the 2023-24 season and 4.2 million in 2024-25).
