The last idea by Ja Morant will bring a lot of tails in the coming dates. According to an article signed by the journalists of the media ESPNRamona Shelburne and Liz Merrill, Colorado police shared Monday that they are investigating Ja Morant’s actions this past weekend in Denver after the loss against the Nuggets.
The Memphis Grizzlies point guard went on Instagram Live in which he displayed what appeared to be a weapon while at a nightclub in Glendale, a small enclave outside of Denver known for its strip joints and shopping malls. The Police Department of said town justified its investigation in relation to the legal situation of weapons in Colorado. In that state you can carry a firearm but it is illegal to do so under the influence of alcohol.
Additionally, NBA rules prohibit a player from possessing a firearm while on team premises or while traveling to another city for sporting purposes. In the video broadcast live by Morant it is not clear if he abused alcohol but other people are shown drinking. For now, his team has set him aside for a minimum of two games and coach Taylor Jenkins has opened the doors for the sanction to last longer.
Thus, Morant is out of the team while the NBA carries out the investigation and the Grizzlies have not released a specific schedule for his return. The point guard himself shared an official statement apologizing for his actions and assured that he would seek professional help to redirect a rather cloudy and worrying recent trajectory.
