The Philadelphia Eagles might just have broken the quarterback market…again.
This has become a bit of a trend as of late, as every new QB deal seems to set the standard for those who come after.
Jalen Hurts has recently signed a five-year contract extension worth a whopping $255 million, becoming the highest-paid player in NFL history.
But more than that, he’s set to make $179 million in total guarantees, which is also quite remarkable.
Moreover, now Colin Cowherd believes this is just terrible news for Lamar Jackson.

For those who lack context, Jackson is reportedly looking for a fully-guaranteed contract extension, which wasn’t unlikely to happen even before Hurts’ contract.
Hurts and the Eagles agreed to leave some non-guaranteed money on the table as well, and he doesn’t have a history of injuries like Lamar.
There’s no denying that Jackson is one of the marquee names in the National Football League.
When healthy, he’s a box-office player and perennial MVP candidate, not to mention one of the most entertaining players to watch.
But he’s failed to finish the past couple of seasons, and his style of play may lead to more injuries along the way, so there are reasons for concern about his long-term outlook.
Maybe Jackson will need to reconsider his stance of not having an agent, or he’ll have to meet the Ravens somewhere in the middle if he wants to get the money he has earned with his stellar play since he first entered the league.
