Chicago expects Lonzo Ball’s return by early 2023

Lonzo Ball’s absence has become a taboo subject in Chicago. His knee injury leaves sensations more than lukewarm and few updates shed light on an ugly matter no matter how you look at it. In these months of relapses that led him to operate on the affected area for the second time in September, it has been rumored that the player could barely climb the stairs of his house without discomfort. Every time he has tried to come back, the pains have returned. However, this time the Bulls and Ball himself are optimistic for the player’s return in early 2023.

The information that Shams Charania shares through The Athletic does not specify deadlines. Basically because there probably aren’t any. Faced with a somewhat disappointing start to the campaign, the organization is adopting patience as a guide to its decisions. Billy Donovan seems safe from burning and no transfer seems imminent. In part because Lonzo’s loss excuses the obvious drop in Illinois. Especially defensively. The team already fell silent in the second half of last season affected by the long absences of Ball, Caruso and the small mishaps of Zach LaVine.

Here it must be pointed out that the current composition of the squad is an iron commitment by the board of directors led by Arturas Karnisovas. Who did the rest to start being competitive in the short term through the transfers for Vucevic and Ball (sign-and-trade); the hiring of DeRozan and Caruso; and the renewal of Zach LaVine. Right now the Bulls are 9-11 and occupy the twelfth place in the Eastern Conference. Half a game from the play-in positions and two from direct qualification to the playoffs.
