After a strong spring training, St. Louis Cardinals prospect Jordan Walker made the team as an outfielder.
He is just 20 years old and completely skipped Triple-A, so struggles were probably going to be a part of his future at some point.
So far, that hasn’t been the case.
He has been as good as advertised, with a .326/.370/.512 line, two home runs, and a stolen base.
More importantly, he is already tying records.
“Jordan Walker ties the mark! The @Cardinals rookie matches Eddie Murphy’s 111-year-old record for longest hitting streak to start an @MLB career by a player 20 or under,” MLB Pipeline tweeted.

It happened in the ninth inning of Wednesday’s game.
He was already 0-for-3, so it was his last chance of collecting a hit to extend his streak.
Fortunately, he was able to do it, and his teammates celebrated in the dugout.
Walker has a lot to contribute to the Cardinals.
The team is not going through its smoothest stretch, but things will eventually be better and Walker could be part of the turnaround.
He has enough power and speed to go 20-20 as soon as this season, and he also has decent on-base skills to make sure he isn’t a liability at the plate.
The walks haven’t been there so far (just one in 46 plate appearances) but his minor league performance suggests they will eventually show up.
When he is done developing, Walker has the potential to be one of the best players in the National League.
