The St. Louis Cardinals are an organization that has a rich and deep history filled with great teams, players, and accomplishments.
As the 2023 season approaches, the Cardinals have decided to reveal their list of Hall of Fame candidates for 2023.
There are several notable candidates on the list such as Steve Carlton, Joaquin Andujar, Matt Morris, Edgar Renteria, and St. Louis native David Freese.
On Twitter, Cardinals insider Jeff Jones listed the candidates for this year’s Cardinals Hall of Fame induction.
The induction typically takes place at the end of August at Ballpark Village, just across the street from Busch Stadium.
Cardinals have officially announced this year’s Hall of Fame fan ballot candidates: Joaquin Andújar, Steve Carlton, David Freese, Matt Morris and Edgar Rentería.

Morris and Renteria were teammates with the Cardinals from 1999-2004 and helped guide the team back to prominence after a lackluster 90s decade which saw them reach the postseason only once.
The Cardinals won three NL Central titles with Morris and Renteria present and even reached the World Series in 2004.
Andujar was a key member of the team for several years.
He won the clinching Game 7 of the 1982 World Series and was also with the team for their run to the Fall Classic in 1985.
Carlton made his MLB debut in 1965 and helped guide the Cardinals to a World Series title in 1967 and another NL pennant in 1968.
However, the most popular among the candidates is Freese.
The local St. Louis kid burst onto the scene in the 2011 postseason.
He was a key part of the Cardinals comeback from 10.5 games down in the Wild Card race and earned NLCS and World Series MVP honors.
His most famous moments came in Game 6 of the World Series, when he tripled to tie the game in the ninth inning after the Cardinals had fallen down to their last strike, and later hit a walk-off home run to force Game 7.
