Top prospect Jordan Walker has proven that he is ready for the big leagues and the opportunity to take the St. Louis Cardinals and the rest of Major League Baseball by storm.

He’s been swinging a hot bat and giving fans in St. Louis a reason to be excited for Opening Day, which is now less than two weeks away.

On Friday, Walker scored from first base standing up on a double by Willson Contreras.

While that may not seem like much, Walker has in fact learned a very valuable lesson.

Earlier in spring training, the top prospect tore open his hand and strained his shoulder while sliding headfirst into second base, and manager Oliver Marmol instructed him to slide feet first in the future.

Clearly, Walker has learned from that incident.

His shoulder and his hand are in better shape now and he is sliding the way the Cardinals want him to.

It may not seem like a very big deal, but the Cardinals obviously want to make sure that he’s healthy going into the 2023 season.

Walker even has a chance to gain a spot on the Opening Day roster with the way he’s been hitting.

The Cardinals and their fans like what they’ve seen out of their top prospect and believe that he will be ready soon.

But if he does make the roster, he’ll remember Marmol’s advice; to slide feet first instead of head first in order not to suffer an injury.

Fortunately on Friday, he didn’t need to slide at all and went in standing up.
