The St. Louis Cardinals have found themselves in uncharted territory.
After Wednesday night’s bullpen collapse, the team fell to 10-21 on the season.
They now own the worst record in the National League.
The team has also lost five consecutive games for the first time since June of 2021.
The Cardinals are reeling and are quickly losing ground in the standings, both in the Wild Card race and the NL Central.
Earlier on Thursday, manager Oli Marmol was interviewed and talked about Wednesday’s gut-wrenching loss.
Marmol talked about how this was the first time he had experienced something as bad as this, and that the realization of this sad fact limited him to one hour of sleep on Wednesday night.
When discussing his team’s skid, #STLCards Manager Oli Marmol mentioned not experiencing something similar that “hurts this way.” He also said “how it happens” has been particularly painful.
Marble said he slept one hour after Wednesday’s loss.

Things continue to go from bad to worse in St. Louis.
Marmol and the team are now feeling the effects of their losing skid, as well as the front office’s lack of offseason activity.
The Cardinals are off to their worst start since the 1973 season.
Though that team ultimately finished at the .500 mark, there aren’t exactly any glimmers of hope around the team right now.
Things continue to get worse for a team that for decades has prided itself on building a contending ballclub year in and year out.
St. Louis has reached the postseason in four consecutive years, but are in grave danger of seeing that streak come to an end in 2023.
They haven’t been more than 10 games below the .500 mark since 2007.
That year, they finished 78-84, finished in third place, and missed the postseason.
