Cardinals Insider Points Out An Unfortunate Fact

While the St. Louis Cardinals have looked better in recent weeks and have found a way to gain significant ground in the NL Central, they appear to have hit another rough patch.

The team is now 23-30 and sit in fourth place in the NL Central, though they are only five games back of first.

The normally stout Cardinals offense couldn’t deliver in key spots as they dropped their series opener against the Cleveland Guardians by a final of 4-3.

After the game, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch took to Twitter, where he pointed out a sad fact that will make fans cringe.

It’s true.

The Cardinals are now the first team in the National League to have reached 30 losses.

After four straight series wins, they were forced to settle for a split against the Cincinnati Reds.

And their problem with winning series openers appears to have reared its ugly head again.

For a team that was expected to be the clear favorites in the NL Central, this is certainly uncharted territory.

The Cardinals had bounced back from a 10-24 start and gained some significant ground in the standings.

However, they appear to have hit a snag again.

Fortunately for the Cardinals, the NL Central is one of the weaker divisions in all of baseball.

The Milwaukee Brewers sit at the top of the Central, but are only three games over the .500 mark.

Milwaukee lost again on Friday, but St. Louis missed another golden opportunity to gain some ground in the division.
