Jordan Walker may be forcing the hand of the St. Louis Cardinals this spring.

Since making his first start on February 26 against the Miami Marlins, the team’s top prospect has done nothing bit hit.

He hit a home run in his first at-bat in that game and also hit two against the Washington Nationals last Saturday.

St. Louis did not add an extra bat to their lineup after signing Willson Contreras.

However, Walker is proving that they did not need another piece and that he is ready to prove himself at the MLB level.

Cardinals insider Katie Woo discussed what Walker has been doing as of late and how he may force his way onto the team.

Woo made an interesting statement, saying that with Walker, fans are seeing one of the top prospects in all of baseball as opposed to just a top prospect within the organization.

She went as far as to say that if he keeps this hot streak up, it would be hard to imagine the Cardinals keeping Walker off of their Opening Day roster.

Walker was drafted in the summer of 2020 and has yet to make his big-league debut.

However, the Cardinals have been duly impressed by what they have seen out of the young slugger at the minor-league level and in spring training.

Walker could ultimately find himself in the mix with Juan Yepez and Nolan Gorman for the designated hitter spot, and even take the job as the season progresses and the Cardinals get a feel for their young talent.
