Baseball season is right around the corner.
For people in St. Louis who cheer for the St. Louis Cardinals, baseball season is the best time of the year.
This offseason, the Cardinals spent big on Willson Contreras, adding a new catcher and a middle-of-the-order bat to their lineup.
However, that was all St. Louis was able to accomplish.
There are still question marks with the starting rotation and the bench.
President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak expressed his belief in his team and cited that confidence as a reason why the team largely stood pat.
Needless to say, it didn’t ring well with Cardinals fans.
On Twitter, a fan took a shot at Mozeliak with a hilarious tweet, essentially rephrasing what was said.
“We were also really happy about how much money we made and we wanted to keep it” #STLCards https://t.co/4RPH7CWGns

For all the talk of an increased payroll for 2023, Cardinals fans were left largely disappointed in the front office.
Fans were expecting more moves.
With Steven Matz as the only starter under contract for 2024, St. Louis could have used a starting pitcher.
Options such as Nathan Eovaldi, Carlos Rodon, Justin Verlander, and former Cardinal Michael Wacha were available, but were all passed up.
As a result, the payroll hardly increased.
The only other moves that were made were depth signings.
While Mozeliak certainly has good reason to believe in what the team has, fans also have good reason to question him on that statement.
The front office of the Cardinals has used statements similar to this one very frequently at offseasons and trade deadlines, and fans are having none of it.
