As spring training games wrap up, it’s time to shift our focus to Opening Day.
The 2023 MLB season is now upon us, and we’ve got a lot to look forward to.
Fans of the St. Louis Cardinals are certainly looking forward to the upcoming season, as their lineup consists of several power hitters that could help them score a lot of runs.
In their spring training finale, the Cards started many of their regulars against the Baltimore Orioles.
On Twitter, one fan commented that the lineup reminded him of a lot of the team’s 2004 lineup, which was one of the deepest lineups in Cardinals history.
This lineup is giving me serious 2004 vibes… https://t.co/iUyqeTBpV5

The Cardinals won 105 games in 2004 and reached the World Series for the first time since 1987.
Their lineup consisted of the famous “MV3” of Albert Pujols, Scott Rolen, and Jim Edmonds.
But they weren’t the only sluggers the lineup had to offer.
Reggie Sanders was the team’s everyday left fielder, and Edgar Renteria was the shortstop.
Their biggest addition however was the trade for Larry Walker, who helped the team run away with the NL Central and amassed their highest total win since 1942.
Tony Womack was the team’s starting second baseman, and Mike Matheny was behind the plate.
Fans in St. Louis were even comparing the lineup to that of the 1927 New York Yankees.
This year, the Cards have Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, and Willson Contreras in the middle of the order, with other stars such as Tommy Edman, Brendan Donovan, Lars Nootbaar, Tyler O’Neill, and Jordan Walker to supplement their big three.
