On Sunday, the St. Louis Cardinals appeared to be down for the count late in the game, as they fell to within three outs of dropping a crucial series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
However, they rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat the Bucs and secure a series split.
And with the win, a special milestone was achieved.
Oli Marmol, who had taken over as the team’s manager after the 2021 season, earned his 100th managerial victory.
The 36-year-old has served in multiple coaching roles with the Cardinals and was promoted to the managerial role after the dismissal of Mike Shildt.
On Twitter, the Cardinals congratulated their skipper on his key milestone.

Marmol was the team’s bench coach before being promoted to the managerial role.
Last season, he guided the Cardinals to 93 wins and their first division title since 2019.
The team ultimately bowed out very quickly in the postseason, losing two games to the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Wild Card Series.
However, he has been a solid manager for St. Louis.
The Cardinals are just 7-9 this season, but all it took was seven wins for Marmol to achieve a very important and special milestone.
Marmol is the youngest manager in all of baseball, but is well respected by his players, the Cardinals organization, and those around Major League Baseball.
And so, with Sunday’s win, Marmol accomplished something major.
He led the Cardinals to the postseason in 2022 and is hoping to do the same in 2023.
