With Yadier Molina gone, the St. Louis Cardinals find themselves with a gaping hole at the catcher position.
On the free agent market, catchers such as Christian Vazquez and Willson Contreras are available.
In terms of trades, the Cardinals already appear to be asking around about Oakland’s Sean Murphy and Toronto’s Danny Jansen.
Regardless of who the Cardinals target, they need someone to fill the hole left by Molina’s departure.
On Twitter, a Cardinals analyst put together a poll for potential catchers the Cardinals could target this offseason, with the options being Contreras, Vazquez, Murphy, and Alejandro Kirk.

Who Will Cards Target For Catcher?
Murphy got the most votes out of the four catchers.
Murphy would be an interesting fit in St. Louis, and it’s possible that the Oakland Athletics will trade him with Shea Langeliers waiting in the wings
Coming in a close second was Kirk, who is probably unlikely given that he was just named a Silver Slugger.
The Toronto Blue Jays are trying to contend, so if the Cardinals are going to deal with them, Danny Jansen is more likely.
Contreras is probably the least likely option, as it would take a large contract offer in order to land him, which is something that St. Louis hasn’t done much of over the past several years.
Vazquez got the least votes on the polls, but could be a likely target for St. Louis.
Vazquez recently won a World Series title with the Houston Astros and was behind the plate for the combined no-hitter in Game 4.
The Cardinals have some work to do, but there are fortunately several players out on the market who could help them.
