By now, no explanation is required for the recent clubhouse drama for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Outfielder Tyler O’Neill and manager Oli Marmol are at odds over a play that took place in Tuesday night’s loss against the Atlanta Braves.
Both have been very public about their opinions on the matter, leading to some friction.
St. Louis is also 2-4 through their first six games.
But this situation has caused some around St. Louis to speculate that there may be other forces at play and other factors that have led to the friction between the two.
On Twitter, Cardinals analyst Brandon Kiley made a prediction that there is more to the situation than others realize.
I’m gonna go out on a limb and say this Tyler O’Neill situation is about more than just one play. #STLCards

For context, O’Neill and the Cardinals found themselves at an impasse last season during the arbitration period.
The frustrations reached a boiling point and the two sides went to a hearing.
Unfortunately for O’Neill, the Cardinals won the case, so it’s very possible that there is some unresolved resentment between the two.
Ultimately, the situation has become public and has created some bad press for both O’Neill and Marmol, as well as the Cardinals as a whole.
Of course, the idea that there are other reasons why the two are at odds is only speculation at this point, but it could mean that O’Neill and Marmol may have had previous issues separate from the play at the plate on Tuesday night.
The Cardinals are headed out on a road trip and will open up a three-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday.
