Cam Reddish and Robert Covington, on the 76ers’ radar?

The NBA transfer season is very close to kicking off. This December 15 sets the date from which franchises can move the players they signed this summer as free agents, which predicts a fairly busy market and with many teams aware of possible operations.

The Philadelphia 76ers, like most franchises, will look to improve their roster. Unfortunately, they do not have the flexibility or the necessary assets to undertake large operations, but they should be able to deal with small movements that allow them to solve structural cracks. With no tradeable first-round picks for the next six seasons and only a few young players of any value, the Pennsylvania front office will have to nit-pick.

According to the medium Sports Clutch, the 76ers would have Cam Reddish and Robert Covington on their radar, two players who currently do not count for their respective teams. Reddish has been removed from the rotation by coach Tom Thibodeau and the New York Knicks would have already put a price on him: a second round of the draft.

More surprising is the situation of Covington, who accumulates eight games without playing a single minute by technical decision after renewing last May with the Los Angeles Clippers for two seasons and 24 million dollars. In any case, the Clippers would be interested in getting rid of one of his forwards in order to reinforce his inside game.

The 76ers already have a very solid core of players who have not been able or known to squeeze their full potential. Thus, their needs would be more directed at versatile defensive profiles that do not require a lot of the ball to be effective. Reddish and Covington emerge as two solid and viable options that, in turn, will also draw — and have already drawn, in Reddish’s case — interest from other franchises.
