The alarm bells haven’t quite finished going off in Milwaukee. According to information from the journalist from The AthleticShams Charania, the Bucks are optimistic about the fitness of Giannis Antetokounmpo and expect him to be available for the game 2 of the first-round playoff against the Miami Heat.
The medical staff of the Wisconsin organization would have confirmed that it is “a pain tolerance problem” and that the staff technician opted to remove him from Sunday’s game for safety. Charania adds that injury could be a constant concern even if Antetokounmpo is able to play on Wednesday and that the player is also dealing with wrist ligament problems.
Antetokounmpo was injured during the Bucks’ home loss to Miami in the opener of their first-round playoff series. The Greek international returned to the pitch in the second quarter, but his mobility was limited, prompting coach Mike Budenholzer to carry him off the pitch to prevent further damage. Medical tests have ruled out serious injury, but the team isn’t sure how Giannis will perform when he returns to the series.
“We have to wait and see what the medical staff says. And, most importantly, what does Giannis say,” Budenholzer said. “Certainly we are very lucky because he is incredibly resilient and his injuries heal very quickly, but we have to go day by day, see how he is doing and how he feels.”
