The Philadelphia Phillies made a franchise-changing move when they signed Bryce Harper before the 2019 season.

Harper has been nothing but excellent since joining the Phillies.

He won the 2021 NL MVP award and led the Phillies to the World Series last season.

But, Harper had no ties to Philadelphia before the 2019 season.

He started his career with the Washington Nationals and he was born in Las Vegas.

That is why the Oakland A’s potential move to Las Vegas has the attention of Harper.

Yet, Harper has no interest in playing for a team other than the Phillies.

According to Matt Gelb, Harper said: “I hope I die in a Phillies jersey.”

Harper has become a fan favorite in Philadelphia for comments like these.

The future Hall of Famer is under contract with the Phillies through the 2031 season.

It seems like a good bet he will play out that entire contract in Philadelphia.

Also, the Phillies are competing for a championship every year.

Their front office has been aggressive to upgrade the roster in chase of a World Series.

The A’s on the other hand are one of two teams in baseball that has yet to win 20 games.

Moving to Las Vegas will not fix their roster issues.

Harper is all about winning and he has a great chance to do that with the Phillies.

Even though an A’s move to Las Vegas would shake up MLB, it will still take a while before they can compete for playoff berths again.
