Brendan Donovan has capped off a memorable rookie season with a Gold Glove Award, joining Nolan Arenado as one of two St. Louis Cardinals to win Gold Gloves in 2022.
Donovan was given the utility player Gold Glove Award, which is something that was added this season.
In doing so, Donovan made some important Cardinals history, becoming the first ever Cardinals rookie to win a Gold Glove Award.
He also joined his teammate Arenado in another very important category, becoming the first NL rookie to win a Gold Glove Award since Arenado himself did it back in 2013 while with the Colorado Rockies.

Donovan Notches Gold Glove Award
Donovan certainly had a memorable season.
One of the reasons the Cardinals like him so much is his ability to play multiple positions on the diamond.
Donovan made highlight-reel plays almost everywhere he played this season.
He can play all over the infield and in the outfield.
He also became a table setter for St. Louis this year, briefly claiming the leadoff spot from Tommy Edman late in the season.
Donovan primarily played second base for the Cardinals.
Edman was moved from second base to shortstop after the struggling Paul DeJong was sent down to Triple-A Memphis, which opened up an everyday spot for Donovan.
Donovan took his opportunity and ran with it, becoming a threat at the plate, on the basepaths, and out on the field at whichever position the Cardinals had him play.
Donovan is one of many bright young stars in the Cardinals organization who will shape the future of this team.
