Bradley Beal could have the hours counted in Washington

The arrival of Michael Winger as the Wizards’ new president of basketball operations could trigger a series of moves in the upcoming free-agent market. And the main target is Bradley Beal, who could have his hours counted in the capital franchise, say Brian Windhorst sources from the media ESPN.

“Last week Winger acknowledged that he has received the go-ahead from management to start a total rebuild,” Windhorst said. “That has left everyone in the league wondering what happens to the future of Bradley Beal,” he added.

Beal has a huge contract ahead of him, at least through 2026 for a total of $150 million, and a player option for the 2026-27 season of nearly $58 million. Only a team with real aspirations for the ring would bet on such a salary.

“Beal has a unique contract in the NBA. He has an anti-trade clause that he can decide if he leaves the Wizards or not. He can also decide why and by whom he is pierced. This makes a potential deal extremely difficult, and Michael Winger still hasn’t decided what to do. But that indecision has led other teams to review the Wizards’ situation. Since they not only have Beal, but also Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis », he concluded.

Beal played 50 official games last year (all as starters) with figures of 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists in 33.5 minutes per day.
