The Toronto Blue Jays were one of the best teams in the American League last year.
They finished second in the AL East with a 92-70 record.
It was the third-best record in the junior circuit, tied with the Cleveland Guardians.
The Jays faced the Seattle Mariners in the Wild Card Series, but were swept 2-0 at home, at Rogers Center.
It was somewhat unfair to them that their excellent season was cut short so suddenly and quickly.
Two straight losses are certainly not the best way to determine that Seattle was better than Toronto, but it’s the format of the game and all teams are subject to it.
The past, however, is the past: it should be behind now, in the rearview mirror.
That’s what the star of the team, first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr., believes.
“Vladimir Guerrero Jr. on last year’s postseason loss to Seattle:’” It’s a new year and we don’t talk about it in the clubhouse this year. We move forward,’” Blue Jays insider Scott Mitchell tweeted.

They say that, in order to move on, things should be discussed at length.
However, everyone (and every team, for that matter) works differently.
If the Blue Jays believe that last year’s elimination is not worth discussing anymore, the idea makes all the sense in the world.
Their focus should be on what’s ahead, not on what happened several months ago.
The Blue Jays have an extremely talented team, with impact additions and several top prospects knocking on the door.
They are in really good shape for the upcoming campaign and the future.
