The Toronto Blue Jays were busy this winter.
The team signed veteran starter Chris Bassitt to a three-year contract and added some bats in Kevin Kiermaier and Daulton Varsho.
They also acquired reliever Erik Swanson from the Seattle Mariners.
The team already had Kevin Gausman, Jose Berrios, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Matt Chapman, Whit Merrifield, Bo Bichette, and George Springer.
After winning 92 games, the Blue Jays look ready to make a run to the World Series.
General Manager Ross Atkins is certainly excited about where things stand with his club.
He recently stopped by MLB Network to discuss the team’s roster and what his expectations are for the upcoming season.

Atkins discussed how the team was busy this winter and what they did to prepare for the 2023 season.
He commented on the team’s level of passion and their desire to win and how that should translate into a successful season.
Atkins was then asked about the signing of Chris Bassitt and what it does for the ballclub.
He responded by talking about Bassitt’s competitiveness and his drive and desire to win, saying that those traits are infectious and are things that ultimately drew the Blue Jays to him in free agency.
The Blue Jays GM also discussed the uniqueness of Bassitt’s arsenal and how that fascinated him when the Blue Jays signed the pitcher in free agency.
Finally, Atkins discussed pitchers Mitch White, Jose Berrios, and Yusei Kikuchi and what they could bring to the team.
He expressed excitement to see what they have and believes that they could be key pieces for the pitching staff.
