Even though Bill Cosby was released from a Pennsylvania prison earlier this year after spending more than two years behind bars, he is not free and clear.
His legal troubles are not over.
Cosby’s criminal offenses took top priority while a civil case filed in California has been waiting to be resolved.
Bill Cosby is a free man, but he still faces a sexual battery civil suit in LA
Women’s rights atty Gloria Allred & client Judith Hugh are the only remaining civil suit pending against Cosby
Now that the criminal case is over, Allred & Huth are scheduled to return to court in Aug https://t.co/YwIZ6ZlAz5— Maggie Jordan, fully vaccinated 👍 (@MaggieJordanACN) July 2, 2021
Judy Huth filed the civil suit in 2014.
She alleged that Cosby sexually assaulted her at the Playboy Mansion in 1974.
Huth was just 15 years old at the time of the assault.
According to Huth, the incident happened one week after meeting Cosby.
He allegedly gave her and a teenage friend pills and alcohol while they were playing pool.
Cosby then told Huth and her friend to lie about their ages when he took them to the Playboy Mansion.

Attorneys for Bill Cosby have already revealed that he plans to plead the Fifth Amendment in this case.
His attorneys also have an issue with the statute of limitations.
In 2020, California civil law was amended to allow childhood victims to seek reward over old events.
The amended law requires the victim to sue upon becoming an adult and within five years of becoming fully aware of the psychological injury caused by the sexual assault.
Previously, his attorneys viewed this civil suit as “defamatory” and “discredited”.
What It Means
Cosby is 84 years old.
He faces an uphill battle clearing his name given the number of victims who have come forward in recent years to accuse him of sexual assault.
His attorneys are trying to save him money in payouts for civil cases like Huth’s.
Huth is being represented by Gloria Allred, a well-known attorney and advocate for female victims of sexual assault and misconduct.
Allred previously said that Cosby will not be able to invoke the fifth amendment so more legal maneuverings on both sides are expected.
