The Perfect storm that is whipping the Brooklyn Nets threatens not to leave head puppet. Kyrie Irving’s suspension for his umpteenth off-the-field slip could have worn owner Joe Tsai’s patience. So much so that various rumors have broken into the franchise today pointing to proper names such as Kevin Durant, Irving himself or Ben Simmons.
The former Philadelphia 76ers will return this Monday against the Dallas Mavericks after missing the last four games due to discomfort in his left knee. However, Simmons’ performance has been far below expectations, also defensively. Thus, his averages at this start of the course are 6.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.
As a result, the Nets have begun to explore potential exit routes for the player, albeit superficially. In fact, the journalist SNYIan Begley, reported last week of a possible rapprochement with a Western Conference team, although he did not reveal any names.
This Monday, the journalist from Heavy.com, Sean Deveney, pointed out that said team could be the Dallas Mavericks, precisely, the rival of the Nets in the crowded day on Monday. The Texans have started the season at a good level but the departure of Jalen Brunson threatens to increase Luka Doncic’s workload, with the risk that this entails for the player, his physical condition and the accumulated fatigue with which he may arrive to the playoffs.
In this way, it is possible that the Mavericks move in the market before the trade deadline February, whether Simmons is the chosen one or not. Will Ben’s future still be tied to Brooklyn by then?
