The Los Angeles Angels have loaded up their roster with some extra pieces heading into the 2023 season.
One key piece from the previous season that is still intact is catcher Max Stassi.
The veteran catcher has been with the Halos since being acquired from the Houston Astros in 2019.
He reached the big leagues in 2013 and was a part of the Astros’ 2017 World Series championship team.
Wednesday just so happens to be a special day for the Angels and their current backstop, as it is Stassi’s 32nd birthday.
On Twitter, the Angels wished Stassi a happy birthday and posted a cool graphic featuring him in his Angels uniform.

Stassi owns a career .212 batting average and has hit a grand total of 41 home runs.
He went deep nine times in 2022 with the Halos.
The 32-year-old also owns a career on-base percentage of .295, a slugging percentage of .361, an OPS of .656, and an OPS+ of 80.
His best two seasons came in 2020 and 2021.
During the pandemic-shortened season, Stassi hit seven home runs and hit for a career-high .278 batting average.
That average dipped to .241 in 2021, but his power numbers went up slightly.
Stassi ended up with 13 home runs during the 2021 season, which is also a career-high.
The Angels struggled mightily in 2022, losing 89 games and ultimately falling short of the postseason after a hot start to the year.
A 14-game losing skid in June took them out of postseason contention and put them on a slide that they would not recover from.
However, Stassi and the Angels are certainly hoping for a bounce-back season in 2023, which is Shohei Ohtani’s last year under contract with the team.
