The Los Angeles Angels have made a few moves this offseason that could help them in 2023.

The team signed left-hander Tyler Anderson to a three-year contract at the onset of free agency.

They also traded for third baseman Gio Urshela.

The 2022 season was one to forget for the Halos, but the team appears to be doing its best to try and improve next season.

2023 is two-way star Shohei Ohtani’s final season under contract with the Angels.

On Twitter, one Angels insider proposed the idea of signing two key free agents still on the market, those being slugger Brandon Drury and right-hander Michael Wacha.

Angels Insider Discusses Two Potential Fits

Wacha and the Angels share an interesting connection.

When the Angels first signed Albert Pujols after the 2011 season, the St. Louis Cardinals were given a compensation draft pick.

With that pick, they drafted Wacha.

The 31-year-old won 11 games and posted a 3.32 ERA with the Boston Red Sox in 2022, though he was limited to just 23 starts due to a lingering shoulder issue that has plagued him since 2014.

Health is the key factor for Wacha.

While he was healthy, he was one of the Red Sox’s most durable starters.

Perhaps the Angels could see something they like in the veteran right-hander.

Drury busted out and had a fantastic season at the plate, hitting .263 with 28 home runs and 87 RBI with the Cincinnati Reds and San Diego Padres.

The 30-year-old could be a potential target for the Angels.

If they were to sign him, he could provide some extra power from the middle of the lineup and prove to be a valuable supplement to Ohtani and Mike Trout.

Los Angeles could use an extra bat in their lineup.
