The New York Yankees have really missed Aaron Judge in their lineup.

He has been injured since he made that spectacular catch in Dodger Stadium a few weeks ago to help secure a Yankees victory.

He hurt some ligaments in his right big toe, though, and a first PRP injection didn’t help much.

A week ago, he received a second PRP injection and that one started a “breakthrough” in his recovery.

He finally turned a corner, and is already getting close to doing some light hitting.

For now, he keeps advancing in other areas.

“Aaron Judge has advanced to pool/balance/strength work, Aaron Boone said. They hope he can resume throwing and possibly light hitting by the end of this week,” Yankees insider Bryan Hoch tweeted.

As Hoch states, there is a chance he does some light hitting before next Monday.

Hitting is just one of the obstacles he is facing.

The toe obviously plays a role while he is hitting, but also when he is fielding and especially on the bases.

That’s why the Yankees want him to feel as close to 100 percent as he can: they don’t want to rush him back and risk the injury re-appearing to affect him in all areas.

Judge has been by far the Yankees’ best player this year, with a .291/.404/.674 line, 19 home runs, and 40 RBI.

He was well on his way to posting similar numbers to last season before getting hurt and visiting the injured list for the second time this year.

The Yankees hope to have him back as soon as he is healthy.
