Aaron Judge Comments On His Current Ailment

On Saturday, New York Yankees outfielder Aaron Judge had a performance for the ages.

Not only did he contribute with the bat, but he also managed to make an incredible catch in right field to potentially save runs and, ultimately, the victory for the Yanks.

The catch, however, had some repercussions.

Judge was absent from New York’s lineup on Sunday with an unspecified health issue.

It was later revealed that he jammed his right big toe.

There is swelling, too, so all signs are pointing to a stint on the injured list.

“Aaron Judge, when asked if he feels like he has a broken toe: ‘It’s tough to say, you know? I’ve never broken a toe, so we’ll see. We’ll see what the tests say. I don’t want to throw anything out there just yet,’” he told Bryan Hoch, who covers the Yankees for MLB.com.

Judge is undergoing tests and imaging on Monday.

If these test show he has a broken toe, he will go to the injured list for the second time this year after his stint in late-April and early May with a mild hip strain.

If there is no fracture, a few days on the injured list are still a possibility.

Judge has been every bit as good this year as he was in 2022.

He has been carrying the Yankees, particularly since returning from the IL on May 9.

For the year as a whole, he is slashing .291/.404/.674 with 19 home runs in 213 plate appearances.

His chances of repeating as the MVP of the American League are likely contingent on the results of the tests he is undergoing on Monday.
