Back in December, Dan McLaughlin, who had been the TV announcer for the St. Louis Cardinals for 24 years, resigned from his post after being arrested and charged with a DWI.

St. Louis native Chip Caray has since claimed the job as the Cardinals’ play-by-play voice.

Recently, McLaughlin broke his silence on the issue, coming clean and expressing regret for his mistakes, but also revealing something very important, that he had struggled his whole life with anxiety and depression.

Since releasing his statement, McLaughlin has returned to Twitter and is back to produce new episodes for his podcast, “Scoops with Danny Mac.”

He and Ben Fredrickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch spoke last Friday about mental health, with the former broadcaster being completely honest about everything he had been through.

On Twitter, a Cardinals fan who had listened to the podcast expressed excitement for McLaughlin’s return and support for him after having been through such a tough time.

McLaughlin certainly has been through a lot.

In the episode, which was retweeted by this fan, McLaughlin took full responsibility for his mistakes and was completely honest about his mental health struggles, which have plagued him for most of his life.

But it is good to see that he’s back doing his show and is using his platform to discuss everything that he has been through.

Fortunately, he’ll have the support of the entire Cardinals fanbase and St. Louis community, who are clearly happy to see that he appears to be doing better.
