Edwin Diaz and the New York Mets finalized an agreement on a five-year contract worth $102 million, which is the largest contract for a relief pitcher in baseball history, eclipsing that of Aroldis Chapman back in 2016, when he signed with the New York Yankees for five years and $86 million.
And thus, the trumpets remain in New York for the next five years.
Mets fans have been enthralled with the song “Narco” by Blasterjaxx, which plays every time Diaz enters a game at home and features a trumpet solo from trumpeter “Timmy Trumpet.”
On Twitter, Diaz expressed his excitement to remain in New York and hyped up Mets fans to let them know that the trumpets were not going anywhere.

Trumpets Stay In New York
The tweet also features a cool hype video showing some of Diaz’s highlights from the 2022 season.
Mets fans are certainly excited to see their dominant closer remain in New York.
The veteran right-hander appeared in 61 games during the regular season and went 3-1 with a 1.31 ERA, converting 32 of his 35 save opportunities.
The Mets won 101 games during the regular season and earned the top National League Wild Card spot.
Though they fell short against the San Diego Padres in the first round, it was a season to remember, and Diaz certainly provided a ton of great moments and memories for Mets fans.
And he’ll provide some more for the next five years should the Mets remain competitive.
And while he’s at it, the trumpets will continue to sound every time he enters a game at home.
