Agents guide the way and assist MLB players well beyond their active years, in many cases.
When we talk about baseball legend Albert Pujols, a player of his status and impact needs guidance even for off-the-field projects.
The former star, who retired after a scintillating 2022 campaign with the St. Louis Cardinals, recently switched agents for MLB insider Jon Heyman.
“Albert Pujols is leaving his longtime agent Dan Lozano and hiring Roc Nation, whose sports division is headed by Brodie Van Wagenen. It’s a major coup for Roc Nation to join with the well respected all time great to rep him in post playing career endeavors,” Heyman tweeted.

After retirement, players can use some advice in all kinds of matters: investments, baseball-related projects, charity, community-related activities, and many more.
Life doesn’t stop when they get off the field!
The timing of Pujols’ decision is interesting, however.
He is joining forces with Van Wagenen, who is very popular among players and even had a brief time as the general manager of the New York Mets a few years ago.
Pujols is saying goodbye after a dream walk year with the Cardinals, the team with which he reached superstar status back in the early-2000s.
In 2022, he hit his 700th home run and finished with a strong .270/.345/.550 line and 24 round-trippers in limited time.
The Cards understood that most of his at-bats should have come against left-handers, and he thrived.
He got to play a couple of postseason games before saying goodbye to the people who loved and supported him along the way.
He is now about to embark on a different adventure: retirement.
For that, Roc Nation will have his back.
