Will this finally be the time Eric Gordon leaves the Rockets? After several seasons without fitting in too much in the midst of a rebuilding squad, rumors regarding his transfer have been gaining more strength this year, and his team change begins to look more likely a few hours before the market closes. In fact, according to Kelly Iko, a journalist for The AthleticPhoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers have recently expressed interest in him, and will try to reach an agreement with Houston that allows them to take over his services.
Both franchises have spent weeks trying to improve the depth of their perimeter, and Gordon’s option seems interesting in both cases. The Suns need someone to fill the gap that Jae Crowder has left as a shooter, while the Clippers, although they do have more players of that profile, could use several of them as bargaining chips to get a necessary tall man and They would then appreciate it if Eric came along to maintain their wide rotation. After all, the shooting guard has been a prolific scorer for many years of his career, and it’s possible he’ll recapture the best version of him if he finds himself in a competitive environment again.
It is not clear what the price will be from Houston to Gordon, although it is undeniable that his value has been falling in recent years and that a priori it should not be a too expensive acquisition. Of course, the option of not bidding too much and waiting for it to be cut does not seem viable, since Iko affirms that it is unlikely that the Rockets will accept to use this route to give him an exit. After all, Eric has a contract until the summer of 2024, so they would still have time to get something for him in a future transfer.
