The Houston Texans are currently on the hunt for a new head coach.

Even though he was well-liked by the players and the organization as a whole, ultimately, the team decided to move on from Lovie Smith after the conclusion of the 2022 regular season.

Now, the Texans have started conducting interviews, and have announced that they will be moving on to a second interview with an intriguing candidate.

Mike Kafka has made it past the first interview, and has been asked to fly to Houston to conduct his second interview with the team, this time, in person.

Kafka is just 35 years old and has been coaching in the league since 2017.

He started his coaching career with the Kansas City Chiefs, working as a quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

After four seasons with the Chiefs, Kafka moved on to the New York Giants and was their offensive coordinator this season.

Kafka was one of the key contributors for the Giants this season, resulting in a meteoric rise in the quarterback play of Daniel Jones.

Under Kafka, the Giants not only made the playoffs but won a playoff game as well.

Houston is certainly an attractive head coaching position, given the fact that the team is in rebuild mode, and a new head coach would be able to help build this team from the ground up.

The Texans have quite a few great young players but will certainly need to add many more pieces, both in free agency and in the draft, if they are going to find any success in 2023.
