Since entering the league, Saquon Barkley has made an incredible impact on the New York Giants organization.

Despite the rumors of Barkley turning down a $12 million per year extension from the club, the Giants have maintained their stance on Barkley, at least in the public eye.

The Giants have been working with Barkley on a contract extension.

At the time that they had offered him the $12 million per year deal, it appears that both sides were unable to come to any sort of equitable solution.

Now that it is the offseason, the Giants are looking to be a bit more aggressive with Barkley, as they would hate to get rid of one of the league’s best running backs.

There is a bit more nuance to the situation than initially meets the eye, which is the contract of their quarterback, Daniel Jones.

Jones is still on his rookie deal but is heading into his fifth NFL season in 2023.

Because of the meteoric rise of Jones’ play this season, the Giants will want to also lock him down with a contract extension, ensuring that they have a franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future.

Will the Giants be able to afford two massive contracts this offseason?

Both players are more than deserving of a multi-year deal and were key contributors to the Giants’ playoff win.

The organization has plenty to work through in the offseason.

If they do retain Jones, the team will also need to work on acquiring additional receiving weapons to take another step forward in 2023.
