Markie Post, a 1980s sitcom sweetheart known for many roles including public defender Christine Sullivan on Night Courtyou have died.
Post died in California on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the age of 70.
She had been battling cancer for nearly four years.

Her family issued a statement saying:
“But for us, our pride is in who she was in addition to acting; a person who made elaborate cakes for friends, sewed curtains for first apartments and showed us how to be kind, loving and forgiving in an often harsh world.”
In addition to leaving behind a husband and two children, Post’s legacy of television and film work lives on.

1. She Broke Into Show Business On Game Shows
Post originally worked behind the camera as a game show producer in the 1970s on the series double-dare with Alex Trebek.
She eventually ended up onscreen in the late 1970s as a card dealer on Card Sharks.

In 1982, she landed the role of bail bondswoman Terri Michaels on The Fall Guy.
She appeared on the series in three of its five seasons for a total of 65 episodes.
Post was no stranger to television series in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
She also logged appearances on CHiPs, The Incredible Hulk, Cheers, Fantasy Island, Hotel, The Love Boat, Hart to Hartand The A-Team.
3.After Night Court, She Continued To Work
Night Court ran from 1984-1992.
Post’s career did not end after that iconic role.
She worked in both film and television after the show wrapped.
Post played Mary’s mom in the 1998 film There’s Something About Mary.
She also acted on scrubs from 2002-2006 and Chicago P.D. from 2014-2017.
Post did voice work for Transformers Prime, an animated series that ran from 2010-2013.

Another Night Court Costar, Marsha Warfield, said:
“She has been, and will be, described as perky, bubbly, sweet, etc. And she was. But, she was also real, caring and kind. I never heard a cross word from, to, or about her. Because of our shared love of game shows, we were on set playmates,” Warfield wrote. “You hear actors saying their casts were a family, but on Night Court, the whole crew was family. I was adopted late, but I never doubted that I was a family too. Markie was a big reason for that. She was our welcome lady, or whatever you call that person who shows up at your door with a foot and a smile the first day you move in the neighborhood. I never got the pie, but the smile was bright enough to make you forget pie was a thing.”
Lee Majors, whom she worked with on The FallGuy, said:
“Was special and can never be forgotten. I had the great pleasure of working with her over the years which was a blessing in my life. Sending prayers of peace, strength, comfort and love to her family from her. ”
