Barely exhausted a quarter of a year, the season for the Charlotte Hornets seems headed for the bottom of the table. The extra-sports problems and the very little movement in the market during the past offseason they planted a dangerous crop field for North Carolinians. But the final blow turned out to be the injury to his great star, LaMelo Ball, who has only played three games so far this season. The point guard missed the first thirteen games of the season with a grade two sprain. Again it was the ankles that left him in the dry dock again, missing the last 11 games due to a severe sprain. Setback from which he could return tonight.
The Hornets will face the Detroit Pistons in Charlotte and the list of casualties for Steve Clifford’s team has dawned with Ball as ‘questionable’. This implies that the player has the chance to make his debut, although the doubts will not be completely cleared up until the previous press conference or in the hours close to the same meeting.
After the two disappointing losses suffered in the play-in qualifiers, it seems that Charlotte intends to turn its current project around. Miles Bridges is a total unknown because of his legal situation, but Hayward and Rozier have already been the subject of many rumors in recent months. The only thing untouchable is LaMelo, who was already an All-Star last year and who is one of the young faces in the league. Perhaps soon he will have another French media phenomenon with which to share the track. Or at least that’s what the Hornets offices seem to want.
