Domantas Sabonis and the Kings agree to a five-year deal

The Sacramento Kings have reached an agreement with Domantas Sabonis to renegotiate and extend his contract for a total of $217 million over five years, the outlet reported. ESPN.

According to journalist Adrian Wojnarowski, the 2023-2024 season will be renegotiated and four other contests will be added to the pact, which will include $195 million in new money. As reported by Wojnarowski, the center did not take the maximum amount of money that he could receive to give the team flexibility in building the squad.

The Lithuanian is one of the leaders in the Californian team, which he joined from the Indiana Pacers in 2022. In the last edition he played 79 games in which he averaged a double-double of 19.1 points and 12.3 rebounds —leader of the league—, he also distributed 7.3 assists, being key in the Kings’ return to the postseason after 17 years.

Sabonis accumulates seven seasons in the NBA and has attended the All-Star Game three times. In 2022-2023 he has been named to the All-NBA Third Quintet.
