The Los Angeles Angels are having an enjoyable 2023 season.

With Shohei Ohtani set to enter free agency at the end of the year, the Angels find themselves right in the middle of the postseason race as we enter July.

Many in the game are predicting Ohtani will receive a record contract with whichever team signs him this winter.

However, his teammate, Mike Trout, believes there is more to it than money.

On MLB’s “Foul Territory” podcast, Trout discussed what the Halos will need to keep Ohtani and why he’s confident the Angels will eventually be able to keep him.

Trout believes the best way for the Angels to keep Ohtani is to win and make the postseason for the first time since 2014.

The veteran slugger praised his Angels teammates and spoke about the strong bond the players have with each other.

He also said that Ohtani is currently enjoying being a part of Halos this season and is thriving in his environment.

Trout stated that he would do everything in his power to keep the two-way star in Southern California.

The three-time MVP then pointed to the fact that teams are likely to offer him a large sum of money for his next contract, but stated that, in his opinion, winning and reaching the postseason may be enough to convince Ohtani. that it is good things are happening with the Angels, resulting in him staying.
