After the Los Angeles Angels routed the Colorado Rockies, scoring 25 runs and picking up 28 hits, they made a deal with their opponents to add a veteran bat.
The Halos added slugger and former World Series champion Mike Moustakas and sent right-hander Connon Van Scoyoc back to the Rockies.
The 34-year-old has enjoyed a bounce-back season of sorts, hitting for a .270 average in 115 at-bats with four home runs, 17 RBI, and a .795 OPS.
Moustakas is a native of Los Angeles and joins a team that owns a 42-36 record on the season after their route in Denver.

Moustakas was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2007 and made his Major League debut in 2011.
He helped guide the Royals to the World Series in 2014, which was their first since 1985.
The veteran slugger also helped the Royals capture a title in 2015.
He was traded from the Royals to the Milwaukee Brewers at the deadline in 2018 and stayed with the team for the 2019 season.
Moustakas then joined the Cincinnati Reds on a four-year deal.
The Reds cut him loose in the offseason and he was ultimately picked up by the Rockies.
For his career, Moustakas owns a .248 batting average, 207 home runs, 652 RBI, and a .744 OPS.
The veteran slugger is a three-time All-Star and a former Comeback Player of the Year in addition to his World Series title in 2015.
He’ll help provide insurance at third base for the Angels, who have lost both Anthony Rendon and Gio Urshela to injuries.
