On Friday, the Cincinnati Reds fell into an early 5-0 hole against the Atlanta Braves.

However, they quickly dug themselves out of it and ended up winning by a final score of 11-7.

Leading the way for Cincinnati was shortstop Elly De La Cruz, who was playing in just his 15th game after being called up to the big leagues.

De La Cruz even hit for the cycle as the Reds came storming back from their early deficit to stun the Braves.

In doing so, De La Cruz made some Reds history, becoming the first player to hit for the cycle since Eric Davis accomplished the feat back in 1989.

On Twitter, Bleacher Report took note of this special occasion.

De La Cruz has provided the Reds with a spark since his arrival in the Majors.

He is hitting for a .361 average and has homered three times in his first 15 games.

The young shortstop has also driven in 10 runs, stolen seven bases, posted a .418 on-base percentage, slugged .656, and posted an impressive OPS of 1.074.

He also has an OPS+ of 179.

The Reds have now won 12 consecutive games.

They began their win streak on June 10 in St. Louis and have been flying high ever since.

Their hot streak has them at the top of the NL Central after they had lost 100 games in 2022 and missed the postseason.

This season has been a different story for the Reds, and the arrival of De La Cruz has lit a spark under the team, which features several young stars who are ready to usher in a new era of Reds baseball.
