Last season, the Milwaukee Brewers bullpen was considered one of the best in the league.
At one point, it had Josh Hader, Devin Williams, and a series of rock-solid setup options.
Hader is not with the team anymore, and a series of circumstances have made the unit more “acceptable” than good.
As of Friday afternoon, Milwaukee’s bullpen ranks 17th in the league with a 4.13 ERA.
They are about to get a boost by welcoming back reliever Matt Bush.
“The Brewers reinstated reliever Matt Bush from the injured list. Bush made six appearances on his rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville, allowing one hit, four walks and one unearned run with six strikeouts,” Brewers insider Adam McCalvy tweeted.

In late April, Bush experienced shoulder soreness and was diagnosed with right rotator cuff tendonitis.
The aid probably explains his poor performance to open the season, as he had a horrible 8.22 ERA in 7.2 innings.
When healthy, Bush is capable of much more: even though he is 37, his career 3.63 ERA and 1.20 WHIP are very good and much closer to his talent.
If he comes back strong, Bush could find himself as a setup option for the Brewers during their quest to make the postseason.
According to McCalvy, he was a bit wild in his rehab stint, but also struck out a healthy number of hitters and is ready to return to a prominent role.
With him in the bullpen, the unit will be better than it has shown so far provided that he is 100 percent healthy.
