Although everything seems to be going well between Tyronn Lue and the Clippers, both parties may prefer to wait a little longer before committing longer term. As reported by Chris Haynes, a journalist for T.N.T.the coach is not expected to sign an extension with the Angels this summer, which could eventually free him up when the season ends.
Lue has a contract with the Clippers until 2025, but the 24-25 season is listed as a team option that the franchise may not take advantage of. However, nothing indicates for now that this is going to be the case, as the Californians have recently confirmed their confidence in the coach when other franchises have asked about him. Teams like the Suns or the Bucks showed interest in him in Tyronn after vacating their benches, but they ruled him out rather soon when they realized that from Los Angeles they were not willing to facilitate his departure.
That is why it is strange that the extension does not seem like a possibility this summer, because, unlike what happens with the players, it is very strange that a coach reaches his last year of contract without being clear about his future, since it is considered that it gives few guarantees to the workforce and could destabilize it. It is to be expected, therefore, that both parties negotiate throughout the course to resolve this situation as soon as possible, avoiding that the rumors regarding a hypothetical exit begin to intensify over the months.
